Acne shouldn't, and certainly shouldn't, be a debilitating condition. If you enjoy wearing makeup, you should absolutely feel free to do so.

When you have acne, however, it's important to use products and makeup that are gentle on your skin and won't worsen the condition. Here are some makeup tips for acne:
1. Skin Preparation
Start with a clean base. Wash your face with a gentle cleanser suited to your skin type (if you're not sure which cleanser is best for you, take our free quiz to find out) to remove excess oil and residue.
2. Use only non-comedogenic products
Choose makeup products (foundation, concealer, powder) that are labeled "non-comedogenic." These products are formulated to not clog pores.
3. Choose a light foundation, possibly without or with very little silicone
Opt for a lightweight foundation or BB cream with light to medium coverage. Avoid heavy foundations that can weigh down the skin and clog pores. Our favorite is PuroBio's Sublime .
4. Transparent or Mineral Powder
Use a translucent or mineral powder to set your makeup. Avoid heavy or tinted powders, which can accentuate imperfections. Our favorite is Essence 's Sensitive Skin Powder .
Also be careful which bronzer you choose; we recommend PuroBio's Resplendent to ensure you avoid any substances that will only worsen your acne. Pay attention to the location of your pimples; if you use the wrong bronzer, your pimples may be concentrated in the contoured areas, where you apply the most bronzer.
5. Less is more
Try to avoid heavy, layered makeup, which can clog pores and make it harder for your skin to breathe.
Even if your favorite influencer recommends using primer, concealer, foundation, powder, bronzer, blush, highlighter, and setting spray—ask yourself if all these products are right for YOU. How does your skin feel after weighing it down with all these products? How does your acne change when you wear heavy makeup?
6. Removing Makeup Before Sleeping
It's essential to completely remove makeup before bed. Use a gentle cleanser and a two-phase eye cleanser to remove all traces of makeup. Pay attention to your hairline and neck: we often remove makeup too hastily, neglecting the contours of our face. However, during the night, rubbing our face against the pillow dislodges the impurities left at the edges and pushes them all over our face, clogging pores and worsening acne.
When removing your makeup, always use a hair tie to pull your hair back and take your time: combine a massage with cleansing milk and enjoy the moment when you remove your makeup as if it were a real pampering experience.
